The OrganisationNewcastle Airport has taken giant steps toward becoming a regional hub for Defence and Aviation activities with works commencing on the design of the Astra Aerolab in 2019, with stage 1 civil infrastructure works nearing completion in 2021. Astra Aerolab is a globally significant Defence and Aerospace precinct being developed adjacent to the Airport and RAAF Base Williamtown, which is set to ultimately deliver 5,500 new jobs and global connectivity, providing access to world-leading education and learning, remarkable spaces and experiences.

The Position
Working directly with the Executive General Manager Property, in this newly created position you will be responsible for the overall delivery of the Airports growth strategy. Including property development and leasing in the fields of aviation, defence and related activities.
A key focus of the growth strategy will be the formulation, planning, implementation and delivery of development projects specifically for the Astra Aerolab and the Airport precinct. To assist with this delivery, you will partner with the Marketing and Communications team to enhance the reach of the leasing and marketing campaigns.
Key Accountabilities
Identify and negotiate leasing and property development partnerships which will support the Airport and Astra Aerolab development opportunities. Undertake property development activities focused on land acquisition and development opportunities. Negotiate and execute leasing and property development agreements with partners, tenants, contractors and service providers. Drive and support the creation of the Astra Aerolab precinct as a nationally significant defence and aerospace hub. Establish new commercial revenue streams within leasing and property development projects for the Airport and Astra Aerolab. Assist in the strategy preparation Manage the implementation and delivery of land, Airport and business park expansion projects, and any associated due diligence. Manage key stakeholder relationships with the aviation, government, defence and airline partners. Manage the new leasing and property portfolio, including associated due diligence requirements to maximise commercial outcomes. Manage and execute the overall delivery of the Astra Aerolab business plan objectives. The Successful Candidate
MUST have previous experience within an Airport, Seaport or multi-use commercial strata environment connected to a business hub. Previous experience in the aviation, Defence (RAAF), property development and leasing. Tertiary business qualifications. Proven ability to identify, develop and present commercially viable business cases. Previous experience in business development strategies and processes Proven experience in successfully influencing and negotiating with key stakeholders at a senior level. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant Local, State and Federal legislation and processes. Benefits
