About the role
This role sits in the Occupational Health and Safety team as part of the Corporate Services division, which leads and builds capability, enabling effective delivery of services to our community.
To operate within a business partnering model to implement best practice safety standards and influence a Safety is Everyones Priority approach.
Responsibilities of this role include Support Managers and people leaders to find solutions to OHS issues and concerns, and ensure compliance with OHS legislative requirements, Council policies and procedures Oversee investigation of any breaches in OHS compliance and review investigative outcomes and recommendations. Conduct and document hazard identification, risk assessments (including plant), and safety audits for both internal and external operations and worksites. Ensure people leaders and contract managers are adequately assessing and monitoring the OHS of contractors in line with Councils Contract Management manual. Develop and deliver training related to the safety discipline to all staff, contractors and volunteers.
About you Relevant qualification in OH&S or related discipline with demonstrated experience working hands-on in an OH&S environment. Comprehensive knowledge of OHS legislation, codes, regulations and licences. Highly developed written skills and ability to prepare reports, submissions and policy papers. Demonstrated ability to identify innovative solutions to manage OHS risks, preferably in a public sector environment. Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including: National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check Covid-19 Vaccination White card required or ability to obtain
This role requires a visible safety presence. The successful incumbent will be required to attend and work from various Casey workplaces.
