We sometimes forget that a Big4 firm is just like any other large multinational, and yes, they have their very own dedicated tax team looking after the firm's taxation compliance obligations.
Our client is one Australia's leading professional service providers. We are seeking a Tax Consultant to join the In-House tax team of a multinational professional services corporation a 12-month Fixed Term Contract with the potential for permanency. The role will primarily focus on the business's tax compliance obligations for Australian Employment Tax (PAYG, Payroll, Superannuation), Indirect Tax (GST, FBT) and Tax advisory for cross-border and local transactions.
This role sits within a national tax team and will report to the Head of Tax for Australia and the Australian Tax Manager.
Please note that this is a commercial tax position for an in-house tax team focusing on a single business. This role is NOT a client facing or client consulting role.
Job Description
- Assist with tax compliance obligations including preparation and lodgement of GST, FBT, Payroll tax, PAYG, Superannuation, and Income Tax.
- Providing tax advice to the wider business on local and cross-border transactions and the implications from an Australian Tax standpoint.
- Work closely with the in-house global mobility team to manage global compliance and manage Permanent Establishment risk from Australian Tax standpoint. (Work from Anywhere policy)
- Supporting the Head of Tax for Australia and the Australian Tax Manager with special projects.
- Process and procedure optimisation to reduce tax risk across the business.
- Assisting with queries from internal stakeholders on internal tax policies, procedures, and controls.
The Successful Applicant
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in taxation, preferably in a commercial/ industry environment (single business).
- Strong technical knowledge in Australian Employment Tax (PAYG, Payroll, Superannuation), Indirect Tax (GST, FBT) and exposure to tax advisory on Australian tax implications on local and cross-boarder transaction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex tax issues to non-tax professionals.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax laws and regulations.
