About Our ClientThe client is a progressive and growing part of the Tech/Education Industry. You will be involved in managing, developing, maintaining and providing high-level support for the business systems. Your work will include but not be limited to working with Linux servers, database servers, cloud environments and various web applications.
Job Description
The role has 4 key areas of requirement: Application Stack Administration, AWS Administration, DevOps and Design and Documentation. The requirements for each area are:
Application Stack Administration
- Administer and maintain the application stacks that the team is responsible for
- Provide subject matter expertise on the application stacks
- Manage and Monitor application stacks and observability platforms for usages and performance issues
AWS Administration
- Administer, maintain and provide support for services hosted in AWS
- Provide expert advice relating to both new and existing deployments in AWS
- Participate in knowledge sharing both within the team and the wider business
- Encourage and support the adoption of cloud services across the business
- Maintain resource accountability and visibility to enable efficient resource use
DevOps
- Work closely with and provide support to the product team(s)
- Deploy and maintain automated testing/training and other non-production environments
- Design, deploy and maintain CI/CD workflows
Design and Documentation
- Assist with and provide expert advice on the design of new systems
- Create and contribute to technical documentation relevant to the product team
- Consult and provide architectural solutions using cloud technology (primarily, but not limited to, AWS solutions)
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:
- Diploma or higher tertiary qualification in an IT or computer-science related field OR demonstrated equivalent workplace experience (1 to 3 years).
- In-depth knowledge of Linux systems, particularly Ubuntu and Debian variants.
- Knowledge of the AWS platform, primarily EC2, ECS, S3, IAM, RDS, CloudFormation, CloudWatch and Systems Manager.
- Experience with hosting PHP applications.
- Solid understanding of SQL and variants (TSQL, ANSI SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL etc).
- Technical experience with both MSSQL and MySQL database systems.
- Basic familiarity with Windows server environments, including Active Directory.
- A passion for automation and cloud.
