Job Description
- Responsible for the preparation of various Monthly Financial Reports and year-end statutory financial reports
- Reconciliation of Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss accounts on a monthly basis and at Year End
- Ensure appropriate transaction recording and integrity
- Present a true and fair view of the financial position and results of the School monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with accepted accounting principles
- Maintain all aspects of the General Ledger and ensure integrity of General Ledger is maintained
- Reconcile all relevant General Ledger accounts including banks, debtors, prepayments, fixed asset register accruals, GSTGST and loans
- Assist in reconciling the fixed Assets
- Assist in the reconciliation of Interest subsidy and interest expense
- Assist Business Manager with preparation of year end statements and end of year audit workpapers
- workpapersProvide external auditors with any analysis and documentation required to perform the annual audit
- Review financial data and provide analysis of financial position of school
- Assist in reporting on financial information to enable school strategic and operational planning.
- Reports may include staffing levels, payment due dates, revenue and expenses by line item
- Responsible for managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) staff
- Delegate tasks effectively to AP and AR and set development goals for them
- Monthly review and analysis of differences between projected and actual results to identify and report variances to the Finance Committee to take actions
- Monitor the daily activity and reconciliation of the bank accounts
- Cash flow control and management by monitoring the daily available cash, the debtor's balances and turnover and the weekly payment commitments (ie iepayroll and creditors) to ensure sufficient funds for the operational needs while optimising the use/payment of bank loans.
- Prepare salaries budget
- Assist with preparation and monitoring of departmental and general operational revenue and expenses budget. Ensure budget is reconciled on regular basis.
- Prepare and submit all government reporting requirements including BAS,BAS FBT
- FBTReconcile GST GSTon a monthly basis
- Prepare quarterly, bi-annual, and annual surveys and statistical returns (ie ieCensus information,
- ABS surveys, Annual Financial Questionnaire etc
- Maintain and monitor AR collection and recovery process
- Maintain expenditure and payments internal controls including weekly review of pre-preapproved payments
- Manage and control Commercial Bills (bank loans) portfolio
The Successful Applicant
- Degree in Finance or related field, CA OR CPA preferred (but not a prepre-requisite)
- Experience as a Finance Manager in a school environment OR experience auditing schools as a key client.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills
- Advanced in Excel and Microsoft office.
