Randstad is proud to partner with a Queensland Government department who manages the transport systems and infrastructure across the state.
In the role of Principal Engineer (Civil) you will provide effective leadership and specialist technical advice and direction to Civil Designers and Civil Engineers in the delivery of design projects from the regions road infrastructure programs. You will use your expertise and experience to solve new planning and design problems, improve existing processes and contribute to the discipline.
Duties:
- Manage the operational aspects of Transport Planning related projects to ensure the effective and efficient use of systems and processes involved with all phases of the project management model.
- Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and courses of action for the design and construction of Transport Planning projects.
- Manage and co-ordinate contract performance and design practices by ensuring that efficient procedures are implemented and best practice is achieved.
- Ensure all quality and environmental aspects of the project are identified and addressed to maintain effective operation and project delivery.
- Provide support and advice on planning and design suitability and options, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success, value for money and best practice are achieved.
- Use professional judgement to provide advice and support in relation to design processes ensuring projects meet technical design outcomes in areas where there are no defined engineering standards.
- Maintain and apply all relevant standards, policies, guidelines and legislative requirements necessary to support responsible decisions and actions for the design and where required construction projects.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor of Engineering (Civil)
- Registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) is mandatory
- Current C-class drivers licence
- Demonstrated expertise in planning and civil design, ability to interpret and apply principles and standards to meet the desired requirements
It is expected that the successful candidate will possess strong oral/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. They will display initiative, attention to detail, and have the ability to work autonomously and unsupervised whilst contributing to the wider team's objectives of ensuring service delivery exceeds expectations.
