This rapidly growing gold producer owns a high-grade underground Mine in Papua New Guinea. Since restarting operations in 2015, they delivered six consecutive years of production growth. The success has become increasingly well recognised, with one of the strongest institutional registers in the mining industry (over 70% institutionally owned). They are about to embark on an exciting journey of expansion.
Job Description
Reporting to the General Manager, this role will lead the effective and safe operation and maintenance of the processing plant including metallurgical services and associated infrastructure. Some of the accountabilities include:
- Prepare business and action plans, monitor performance against plans, develop and manage the budget for processing, plan and allocate resource requirements, and schedule work to achieve the required work output of the team.
- Lead the processing department with 7 direct reports, by driving a good safety and performance culture through engagement, development and alignment of all team members.
- Be responsible, alongside the project team, for the implementation/successful commissioning of the new single-stage SAG mill
- Manage, improve and implementation of systems that will ensure consistent, repeatable outcomes in plant reliability, production performance and resource utilisation to minimise cost and maximise production.
The Successful Applicant
The successful candidate will have extensive leadership experience in processing, specifically in the Gold industry. It's also a requirement for this role:
- Experience with gravity separation followed by flotation process
- Background in extractive metallurgy
- Preferable experience working in mining in Papua New Guinea or a developing country
- Commissioning experience and involvement in expansions is beneficial
- Extensive leadership experience, with the ability to coach, train and develop the team
