About Our ClientOur client is an Australian mining company in expansion. They have two operating mines and two development projects in NSW. In this position, you'll be responsible for the geotechnical team in the Cobar, NSW mine, with LOM until 2035.
The operation comprises two separate polymetallic underground mines and an 800ktpa base metals and gold processing plant. The plant is supplied with gold-copper and gold-lead-zinc ores from several active underground mining areas that use open-stope mining with backll. The operation generally has roughly 110 employees on-site at any given time on a mix of FIFO, DIDO, and local residential basis.
Job Description
Part of the responsibilities of the Senior Geotechnical Engineer include:
- Provide appropriate design parameters for safe and effective mining.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, as well as promote and enforce safe work practices.
- Develop, implement and review geotechnical programs in respect of ground monitoring, ground control and mine infrastructure.
- Develop and implement inspections and monitoring regimes for quality control and assurance of installed ground support. This includes working with contractors and other external geotechnical engineering firms to deliver QA/QC information and test results in a timely manner.
- Working closely with the mine operations and technical services teams to ensure a safe and healthy working environment.
The Successful Applicant
We are looking for a professional with mining underground experience as a geotechnical engineer for the past 5-8 years who is ready to step up to a senior position, or who has been working as a senior geotechnical engineer.
The successful candidate must have had exposure to different stope methods and strong numerical modeling skills. Experience using Rocsience, Deswik, and FLAC3D is advantageous.
