Job Description
Development :
- Applies current best-practices, standards and tools in the development, verification, and testing of responsive, efficient code for cross-browser and cross-device users
- Develops solutions in line with requirements documentation
- Employs a mobile-first approach
- Develops code with SEO and performance considerations in mind
- Modifies/refactors existing code modules
- Contributes to the design, implementation, adoption and evolution of Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC) standards and processes
- Actively engages in code-reviews
- Employs appropriate tools and processes in the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of problems, with a primary focus on restoration of service
Processes and Collaboration :
- Using appropriate modelling, design patterns and agreed methodologies; Analyses requirements documentation to determine best technical solution
- Lead solution architecture for new features and enhancements within a given scope
- Considers implications of development decisions on other systems within the business, escalates any code conflicts or issues to Digital and IT and business stakeholders
- Provides expert input to project teams as appropriate
- Upholds IT and eCommerce release management and code version control standards
- Upholds agreed agile development practices
- Mentors junior developers, continuously adjusting coaching techniques to engage and grow development

Optimisation and Improvement :
- Proactively identify technical opportunities to improve site performance
- Identifies and evaluates emerging technologies and toolsets to proactively improve and optimise business functions
- Influence and support the technology direction and proactively look for opportunities to deliver measurable improvements
- Recommend best practice solutions
- Implement a structured delivery
Quality Assurance & User Acceptance Testing :
- Ensure implemented solutions are consistent with expected outcomes
- Explore and consider all use cases
- Engage with the stakeholders for UAT of product developed
- Pair with other developers in performing Peer Reviews of code
- Develop automated tests to provide coverage across our systems
- Determines risks associated with QA findings and proposes remediating actions
Market Trends and Best Practice :
- Keep up to date with knowledge of relevant technology as well as usability best practice
- Employs a continuous improvement mindset to both own work and team processes
- Encourages continuous innovation within the team, championing and surfacing beneficial activities, and leading through to wider adoption
The Successful Applicant
- Strong experience developing eCommerce websites
- Expert level HTML/CSS/JS experience
- Vue.js/React experience desirable
- Experience with content management system (CMS) enablement is highly desirable
- Ideally backend experience in Node.js, .NET or similar backend technologies
- API integration experience and headless approaches highly regarded
- Salesforce Commerce Cloud experience an advantage, but not required
- Experience working in an agile, high-pace environment; passionate about coaching

- Experience with CI/CD environments a plus
- Collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues
