POSITION SUMMARY:The Manager Sector Engagement and Coordination is a strategic role within the Department of Health's newly established Stakeholder, Community and Consumer best practice team within the Communications and Engagement Branch. The role is central to assisting the department ensure high quality sector engagement and coordination of strategic communications with stakeholders.
It is responsible for leading a small team in: coordinating whole of department level engagement forums and activities, ensuring they align with the department's strategic objectives coordinating regular strategic stakeholder communications to health services and the sector more broadly, ensuring they align with the department's strategic narrative and key messages for different audiences managing the department's stakeholder relationship management and providing strategic advice to the Communications and Engagement Executive Committee to inform departmental stakeholder and reputation risk management.
Key to the success of the role is the ability to drive best practice approaches in engagement forums and stakeholder communication channels that enable strong and mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships between the Department and its diverse stakeholders and communities. Accountabilities Working with the Senior Director, Stakeholder and Consumer Engagement and leadership peers, embed the new engagement operating model as it applies to the sector engagement team, and a culture of best practice engagement. Establish systems which ensure engagement across portfolios is coordinated and aligns with the department's strategic objectives, narrative and key messages for different audiences. Develop and deliver coordinated department level stakeholder engagement forums and activities. Manage the department's stakeholder relationship management, including active involvement in customer relationship management software, and provide strategic advice to the Communications and Engagement Executive Committee to inform departmental stakeholder and reputation risk management. Identify and actively manage emerging issues and areas of risk for government, the department and the community, including leading stakeholder research initiatives to ensure engagement approaches meet stakeholder needs and expectations. Maintain an understanding of issues impacting the department's stakeholders and investigate and lead engagement projects that develop and review policies, professional standards and operating practices that enhance service delivery, budget effectiveness, efficiency and improved client outcomes. Support peers in the delivery of engagement activity across other engagement portfolios within the team. Forge strong connections across the department, other government departments and with external stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach. Work with the Principal Adviser Stakeholder and Consumer Engagement to deliver stakeholder perception research. Work with senior management to set and achieve key performance indicators and standards.
