Job summary

The city of Ipswich is attracting unprecedented growth and is the fastest growing city in Queensland. The strong heritage and history of the region combined with social and economic growth is redefining the way in which the region operates, how the community is connected and repositioning the city nationally. The city of Ipswich is embracing change, adapting to growth and is striving to be an inclusive city with opportunities for all. The Ipswich City Council (ICC) five year vision is focussed on Ipswich city to be vibrant and continue growing; to be natural and sustainable; to be a city which is safe, inclusive and creative and to be a trusted and leading organisation.

Central to realising this is the leadership and work undertaken by the ICC. Significantly, the council is becoming a trusted and leading organisation and the council is delivering on the transformation of their technology to improve on how the council delivers products and services for the Ipswich community.

A unique opportunity has become available to support the work of the ICC in the Information and Communications technology branch. As a senior member of this branch, you will support the enhancement of the quality of life for the Ipswich community and as a key leader, work constructively with ICT team members and more broadly across the ICC. Making this opportunity even more attractive is location, a new modern building and attractive renumeration.

As the Senior Systems Engineer, you will bring a strong combination of technical expertise, leadership combined with strong communication and engagement skills. Your role is primarily focussed on managing the comprehensive server, storage and enterprise infrastructure supporting services for the Councils Corporate Information System software applications and services as directed. You will be responsible for the delivery of services of a daily basis both technically and also providing timely, high-quality assistance to end users leveraging your cross-team collaboration skills.

Further, you will be required to provide subject matter expertise, trouble shooting, analysis of usage patterns, provide capacity planning solutions as well as lead and mentor junior staff. This will include elements of change management.

Does this sound like you? The ideal candidate will possess experience in Software as a Service (SaaS) and Public cloud offerings, have the ability to design, implement and maintain the ICCs corporate technology, environment, server and storage architecture and promote a culture of continuous performance.
