Job Description
The Senior Financial Accountant has responsibility for all Group related reporting to internal and external stakeholders, preparation of all direct and indirect tax compliance for the Group and working closely as a business partner for the operational teams within the business.A strong technical accountant with experience managing complex reporting processes of a for-profit company, whilst also having a hands-on approach to issue resolution within financial operations. The role delivers value through delivering timely, accurate and relevant information to the key decision makers, including acting as a business partner for the operational teams within the business.This role is a part of the company Finance, Legal & Risk team which supports through all aspects of finance partnering, group finance; legal advice, assessments and contracts; risk, assurance and governance. This highly skilled team provides expert support and guidance through flexibility and cadence.Business Partnering
* To help the Finance team align with the business goals, this role will act as the Business Partner for the operational teams within the Business.
* Building relationships with the Senior Leadership Team Member responsible for all the business operations and their direct reports to be the finance point of contact for any finance related issues.
* Be involved in discussions with the Operations team regarding negotiations of significant contracts, assistance with calculating costs of solutions in place and costing of alternatives.
* Holding monthly reporting meetings with the team to discuss results compared to budget and forecast, and provide feedback to be incorporated into future budgets and forecasts.Board Reporting
* Working with the Financial Accountant to produce and continuously improve the monthly Board reporting pack, having scope through the analysis & commentary to provide insights, heighten understanding and add value for the Board.
* Responsible for coordinating the delivery of the monthly Board reports including preparing analytical commentary, detailing trends and providing insights, then answering director queries.
* Co-ordinating the reporting timetable to ensure delivery of accurate reporting on time to all stakeholders, which include shareholders who are listed companies, banks, directors and management.
* Implementing improvements that enhance and streamline the delivery of the reporting packs and the information within it.Managing Audits, Tax, Risk reporting and Compliance * Manage the half year and annual external audit & tax process with KPMG, in compliance with Shareholder requirements, including preparing documents for the company Audit and Risk Committee 'ARC'.
* Ensuring that the Group remains compliant with its tax, reporting and payment requirements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis through management of all compliance requirements. The actual deliverables will be prepared by the Financial Accountant and include BAS returns, payroll tax, income tax, payment times reporting and FBT.
* Be the company 'go to' technical accounting person and liaise with broader shareholder accounting and technical teams.
* Manage the preparation of the annual financial statement process as prepared by the Financial Accountant, ready for Board and auditor approval.General Ledger Maintenance and Month-end Accounting.
* Have oversight of, and manage, the maintenance of the general ledger, codes, fixed assets and structure within finance system, including preparing and posting general journals. Manage the ledgers from source documents right the way up to consolidated financial statements.
* Lead the month end timetable and processes including the monthly reconciliation of all entities balance sheets
The Successful Applicant
- Experience leading the reporting process of a complex, for-profit business, required to deliver results to multiple stakeholders in tight timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability of working in a small-medium team working to clear deadlines and under pressure.
- High level of organisational and planning skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high quality outcomes that are accurate, complete, and timely.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Ability to gain respect throughout the organisation.
- Willingness to add value and seek to speak up and improve the business processes.
Qualifications
- Qualified Chartered Accountant ideally with Big 4 audit or business services experience
