Visy is a clear market leader in plastics packaging manufacturing. As one of Australia's first and largest manufacturers of RPET containers, we have just produced Australias first milk bottle with 50% recycled plastic. Visys $29 million multi-state plastics recycling investment is diverting up to 1.9 billion plastic bottles from landfill and export each year and keeping more plastics in the circular economy to be re-made locally into food grade products.

A brand new opportunity has become available for an outcome focused and continuous improvement driven, Production Manager to join our Visy RPET Plastics plant in Smithfield. This is a state of the art faciity and a great role for someone who is an established production leader with demonstrative capabilities ready to take the next step in their career to grow into our next Plant Manager.
The Role:
Reporting to the Plant Manager rPlastics, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the manufacturing facility, leading a team, and running several integrated processing lines including plastic sorting, washing and extrusion lines, with involvement in all operational aspects of the site.
Your aim is to maintain a sustainable safety culture, empower employees, drive optimum performance and product quality, establish meaningful relationships with internal and external customers and ensure the plant is a great place in which to work.
Your day to day will include but not limited too: Ensure safe operations in accordance with Visys policies and procedures and ensure all quality systems are complied with. Troubleshoot technical processing issues and working closely with the maintenance team investigating failures and incidents to determine the root cause. Lead cultural change and actively develop/upskill your team including identifying any cross training or development opportunities. Improve operational performance (eg. quality, waste and output) Maintaining and overseeing labour costings and working towards a set budget. Working with your team, ensure all manning levels, resources and tools are available for your team to meet production targets. Develop improvement processes and ensure established processes are maintained to meet compliance and quality targets. Communicating with all stakeholders fostering a proactive working culture/high employee morale.
What you will bring to the team: Bachelor degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering in a relevant field (Plastics, Recycling, Heavy Industrial Manufacturing, FMCG) Experience in a leadership position within a highly regulated or high speed manufacturing or processing environment. Demonstrated ability to uplift capability within a team and drive a results driven culture. You will be analytical and data driven, with a pro-active approach to identifying, investigating and solving problems. Knowledge of Lean manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies, and their implementation highly regarded. Experience in Quality systems; ISO9001, HACCP and GMP highly regarded.
