Position Overview:
The primary function of the Quality Engineer is to identify, lead, implement and sustain improvement initiatives which enable the operations team to enhance product conformance and increase production efficiencies and output. Such initiatives will include and are not limited to systems, processes, equipment and layout. This position reports to the Engineering Manager and is based at the Head Office Facility in Elizabeth.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Lead and develop cross-functional teams to identify, investigate and assist in rectifying root causes of product non-conformance Employ problem solving methodologies to investigate complex conformance issues and any customer escapes Support the Operations team by managing the Non-conformance process and action customer dispositions for Non-conforming products/processes. Validate Production processes by co-ordinating FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) and validating FAIR inspection requirements have been completed Work with Operations to lead and implement targeted production process/system improvements to reduce cycle time and remove waste using LEAN skills Track, monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and impact of improvement activities using Excel and develop CI Dashboards quantifying value of improvements and benefits to the business Undertake targeted analysis and reviews of manufacturing methods to identify and implement improvements in product conformance Develop inspection methodologies and instructions to ensure product conformance inspections are robust, relevant and adhered to Review procedures to ensure appropriate controls are in place to prevent stock from being taken without authorisation and movements being recorded Manage SPC (Statistical Process Control) techniques to prove/validate process stability Participate in internal audits of processes to review their suitability and conformance Key Selection Criteria:
You MUST be either an Australian Citizen OR born in a NATO Partner Country to be considered for this position Possess relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical, Process etc.) OR related trade manufacturing disciplines (i.e. Metal Machining, Metal Processing, Metallurgy etc.) It is Desirable to have proven experience in Quality Conformance, Inspection and testing techniques/methods. Formal qualifications in Quality Control, Assurance & Systems will be highly regarded Demonstrated LEAN and/or SIX SIGMA skills, with formal recognition/certification a substantial benefit Ideally 2 years experience with AS9001 or AS9100 quality systems in advanced manufacturing environments. Ideally precision engineering workshops associated with Aerospace and/or Defence components manufacture Strong technical writing skills Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint) and ERP systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact and build rapport with production team members and staff at all levels Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Professional, friendly, energetic, positive and customer focused Embrace & drive change, flexible in thought and action, always seeking to continually improve the business and its people Have the ability to influence and mentor managers and staff at all levels of the organisation Be able to communicate complex information clearly, both verbal and in written form across all levels of the organisation including senior management. A confident persona with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a high level of self motivation and results focus.
