job detailsAs a Senior ER Consultant you will be accountable for providing strategic and high-level technical advice and support to the organization including employee and industrial relation matters. This position provides subject matter expertise for strategic/change initiatives and in conjunction with the People and Culture team, ensures implementation and compliance with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, policies, and contracts of employment.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Provide the People and Culture office advice on a variety of ER-related issues.
- Conducting workplace investigations, management of complex cases involving performance, conduct, fitness for work, and grievances.
- Participate actively in the development of ER strategies and plans by conducting in-depth research, analysing data, recommendations, and presentations.
- Support the enterprise bargaining strategy, including engaging in negotiations or consultation with the relevant unions
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and policies, as well as proactively identifying issues and proposing solutions
- Support any projects, including policy reviews, organisational change, and remediation
- Assist the Senior Manager Employee Relations with complex or sensitive industrial issues, disputes, and case management work
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders
- Development, review and monitor policies and procedures to promote and maintain positive employee relations, good practice, and legislative compliance.
Essential
- Tertiary level qualification in HR, ER/IR or law or industrial/employment relations.
- Extensive experience in employee/industrial relations in a complex environment.
- Experience in negotiation of enterprise bargaining agreements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels
- A sound understanding and knowledge of relevant employee relations legislation, awards and policies and contemporary workplace issues
- Proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
- Strong analytics, attention to detail and commercial acumen
- Highly developed technical skills, including knowledge of legislation, industrial awards, and case law.
- Ability to identify strategic HR related issues/risks/opportunities/process improvements
- Strong resilience and drive to work in a challenging and at times, high pressure environment.
