job detailsSupporting the Portfolio Development Manager, the Study Manager will be responsible for delivering key Project Studies across various disciplines including Water, Electrical and Infrastructure for our clients established and large scale mine site.
In this role you will:
- Provide leadership to your team, working closely with them to achieve project objectives;
- Support your team through development activities and career planning and their wider development goals and career aspirations;
- Prepare for, lead & participate in project Steering Committee meetings and Opportunity Framing activities
- Lead the Opportunity Assessment, Identification, Selection and Definition phase studies
- Identify critical gaps in knowledge and understanding, and develop plans to close these gaps
- Effectively frame problems and decisions
- Preparation of Scope of Work documents for engineering consultants and contractors, in consultation with engineering teams
- Review and manage study schedules, budgets and reporting, ensuring that issues are identified early and managed proactively
- Work closely with engineering teams to coordinate their involvement, and ensure project objectives are delivered, and compliance to standards is achieved
- Coordinate risk management and value optimisation activities within the development of projects
- Participate in Engineering Scope Optimisation activities
- Develop and obtain support / approval from internal stakeholders on key project documentation and integrate functional inputs
- Ensure project changes and decisions are clearly documented throughout the development phase and all documentation is completed and formally handed over to the delivery team
- Capture and communicate internal lessons learned and external best practices across the project and identify opportunities for improvement.
About you:
- Experience working in project development or studies, with demonstrated experience achieving quality project outcomes
- Exceptional collaboration and engagement skills across broad groups with the confidence to influence when required
- Experience in dealing with and leading project Steering Committees consisting of senior stakeholders
- Ability to develop recommendations based on varying inputs and ambiguous information
- Ability to lead and coach a small team to achieve results
- Problem solving skills that demonstrate analysis and critical thinking
- A degree qualification while not essential, is advantageous
- A proactive, self-driven team player who operates with honesty and integrity
- Good time management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise reports
