Merino Media, MRSPBI Media and Stadtic Media have a number of position available for the right candidates.
The Yass Valley Times, Twin Town Times/Cootamundra Times and the Junee Independent covers the townships of Yass, Harden-Murrumburrah/Cootamundra, Junee and the surrounding rural districts.
The newspaper footprint is geographically located between Canberra and Wagga. Approximately 1.5 hours from each city from its central location of Harden-Murrumburrah.
The papers seek to fill a number of varied, skilled and versatile roles, including, Editor, full-time Journalist or Cadet Journalists who are passionate about breaking local news and immersing themselves in the areas they work.
The print versions are currently once a week, while the website operates continuously alongside social media pages.
Applicants must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to network quickly.
The ideal candidates will be able to work independently under deadline pressure and prioritise tasks appropriately while managing a high-volume workload.
As well as being able to generate story ideas, the successful candidate must have a valid driver's licence and be able to drive manual and automatic vehicles. They must work weekends, evenings and public holidays when requested.
Proficiency in general and sports photography alongside Quark layout software, Final Cut video editing software or another version of editing software is preferable but not essential.
The successful applicant will need to be able to manage social media pages and websites or posses the willingness to learn how.
The successful applicant for this role should be an energetic and capable multi-platform storyteller with proven skills in writing, research and analysis, a strong work ethic and a curiosity about people and their stories. They will need to engage with community groups and small organisations in country towns and villages.

The successful applicant depending on the level of job applied for, can be a school leaver or very good writer who has a strong understanding of the English language. Will be a recent graduate or have proven Journalism experience, be an exceptional story-teller, short story teller and feature writer on issues for a broad audience.
The Editors role will require the successful applicant to be able to posses all these skills and manage a small team and have the responsibility to continue to produce and reach all current benchmarks as well as look at how to expand the business.
Applicants must be able to provide:examples of excellence in writing balanced, accurate reports to a high standard of spelling, grammar and style;be digitally focused, have proven skills in writing for online and social media audiences and within deadlines;be able to show initiative in generating story ideas while also working to direction and in collaboration with the editorial team as required.
An interest in podcasting production, videography and editing is welcomed.
Under the direction of the publisher you will become the newspapers driving forces. Your duties will include all aspects of news gathering, including interviewing and writing stories and providing photographic and video content. You will be a part of a team responsible for the layout of the print version of the paper.
