About the role
Because of their immense growth in their portfolio, multiple opportunities have come up in one of their offices to join as an Engineering Managers in the data platform space. As well as technology ownership, the Engineering Managers also own the hiring, retention and growth and development of a data engineering team that meets the needs of the business and works well within the overall system architecture.

As an Engineering Manager in the Data Platform space, you will draw from a deep and broad technical expertise to mentor engineers, delve into technical problems, and provide leadership on complex technology issues in the company. You will possess deep technical skills and spend majority of your time building data platforms and migrating them from on prem to cloud or hybrid cloud environments.
Skill Sets
You need to have the following skill sets to excel in this role:
- Relevant experience managing multiple data engineering teams or squads of up to 30 people.
- Strong engineering background (preferably SQL and big data)
- Experience in technical advisory and interpretations of cloud native technologies for building a platform, migration or putting hybrid cloud platforms
- Experience prioritising work with delivery teams and strong experience working across multiple streams.
- Solid understanding of how to build scalable, maintainable, and performant platforms.
- Extensive experience in building data platforms in cloud (GCP and AWS preferred)
- Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of the organisation.
- Previous experience in data transformation or Business Intelligence and analytics projects is desirable.
- Mindset of working in ETL, Business Intelligence and data projects
Your responsibilities will include
- Hiring, mentoring and coaching data engineers and aspiring engineering leaders in your teams
- Working on programs that include building data platforms for data transformation and data integration.
- Building a high performing but psychologically safe environments for data engineers to do their best work.
- Running teams, owning tech products, own engineering budgets (including underlying platform, code upgrades, frameworks etc.) and drive the quality of the product.
- Working closely with the product managers and product owners in the regulatory space to ensure the team understands the problems they're trying to solve.
- Accountable for the reliability and uptime of the platform and engineering capabilities that your team owns.
- Managing the scrum and agile ceremonies within your team
