About Our ClientYou will be joining a tight-knit team with a new approach to managing a family office and private equity investing. The role will full time hours and be for an initial 6-months with the view of extension or potential permanency for the right individual.
Job Description
The key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
- Month end reconciliations and preparation of consolidated board reports for a number of trusts and companies across the group
- Reconciliation of inter company balances on a monthly basis
- Preparation of annual accounts and tax returns/reconciliations for review by external accountants
- Preparation of monthly and quarterly tax obligations (BAS/IAS, payroll tax)
- Assistance with the annual budgeting process and regular ongoing reporting
- Additional ad-hoc project work as required by the family or finance team (e.g. improving or creating new management reports, implementing investment register)
- Key support for Finance Manager & Financial Controller
- An understanding of Division 7A tax and Unpaid Beneficiary Entitlements would be beneficial
The Successful Applicant
- Qualified accountant with at least 5 years of work experience which may include top 4 accounting and/or business services/public practice
- Experience navigating large complex family group structures
- Extensive accounting capabilities including ability to produce and analyse Balance Sheets, Profit & Loss and Cash Flow Statements
- Ability to recognise and rectify omissions and errors in accounting system
- Sound understanding of GST, Superannuation and Victorian Payroll Tax
- Strong communication skills to engage on a peer basis with senior executives and investment professionals
- Independent thinker with the confidence to embrace unfamiliar concepts
- Strong excel and written skills
- Experience with MYOB Advanced and Xero, or a similar package would be beneficial but not absolutely required
