As a User Experience Designer within the digital project team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the digital experience for one of their public websites, showcasing the universitys research activities and their impact through stories, videos, pictures and podcasts.
Responsibilities
- Conducting discovery and research by employing various research methodologies to understand user behaviour, preferences, and pain points when interacting with the website
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define project goals and objectives, ensuring a deep understanding of user needs and business requirements
- Unpack user requirements by translating user research findings into clear and concise user requirements, user stories, and use cases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between user needs, technical feasibility, and business objectives
- Create user journey maps and personas to guide design decisions and maintain a user-centric approach throughout the design process
- Work closely with the UI designer to develop intuitive, visually appealing, and accessible interfaces that align with user needs and design guidelines
- Plan and conduct usability testing sessions, A/B tests, and prototype feedback sessions to validate design solutions and identify areas for improvement
- Conduct user interviews to gain valuable insights and feedback on our existing digital platforms, leveraging this information to drive iterative design improvements
- Create interactive and engaging user experiences that involve dynamic content and moving graphics to enhance user engagement and satisfaction
- Collaborate closely with the technical team to understand limitations and possibilities, translating technical jargon into understandable language for non-technical stakeholders
- Advocate for UX best practices and standards within the technical team to achieve cohesive and user-friendly solutions
Experience/Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in User Experience Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field
- Proven experience in conducting user research, usability testing, and translating user insights into actionable design solutions
- Strong proficiency in design and prototyping tools such as Sketch, Adobe XD, Figma, or similar
- Solid understanding of web accessibility standards and guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and decisions to stakeholders at various levels of the organization
- Experience in an Agile development environment is a plus
