About the role
The Service Manager role is part of the DC site leadership team responsible for the repairs and maintenance function. The Distribution Centre is designed to support the network with a range of large and specialist equipment, product and solutions. The overriding aim is to increase reliability, convenience, utilisation and productivity of our four specialist branches: Pump & Power, Access, Site Services Solutions and Traffic that form our Distribution Centre.
The Service Manager is responsible for maintaining and improving the safety, quality and service levels of all equipment as well as the management and development of team members within the workshop function.
This role requires you to:Lead the workshop team and understand the function as part of the wider DC operationEngage team in Reaching Best principles and conversations to continuously improve the function in line with best practiceManage the workshop budget, within the context of the DC P&LPlan workshop staffing in collaboration with the Site Manager to meet profitability targets;
Ensure all rostering and time worked information is correct and completed for payroll process within the required timelinesPrepare end of month reportsEnsure effective workshop administration requirements to QOM standardsMonitor and action all QOM Audit requirementsEnsure the presentation of the workshop, yard and warehouse storage spaces are maintained to QOM standardsEnsures Ready for Hire and Service Job practices comply with QOM standardsOversee the DC workshop and managing the service and repair of equipment to Kennards Hire standard for our customers, and to minimise downtimeOrder parts and workshop supplies, ensuring essential workshop supplies are in stock and that equipment costs are within branch budgetsLiaise with external suppliers to get quotes on partsAssess all jobs balancing quality, cost, time and resourceLiaise with outside repairers on technical repairs of equipment
About youPrevious experience managing a workshopPrevious experience with hands on equipment maintenance and serviceStrong knowledge of equipment carried in the Kennards Hire networkDemonstrated previous experience leading a team in a management/supervisory role, with the ability to effectively delegate, coach and develop othersStrong financial acumen and experience managing costs and budgetsStrong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to identify root causesExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to proactively develop new customer relationships and engage staffExperience in working within a network operation
