About the roleMater Respiratory Medicine Department based at the South Brisbane campus, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and exceptional Senior Sleep Scientist to enrich their career by joining the team on an initial 12 month contract, full time with the potential to extend!
As Senior Sleep Scientist your role will see you deliver a state wide adult and paediatric sleep services to stakeholders of the Mater Health Services District in accordance with the Mater organisational goals.
Salary range: $55.48 - $59.67 (Health Practitioner level 4) p/h + 10.5% super + Salary Packaging
What youll be doing Manage the continued successful operation of the adult and paediatric sleep investigation service and the HP Work Unit team at the Mater. This includes resource allocation and coordination, as well as assisting other stakeholders and customers of the service state wide. Quality Manager to lead continuous quality improvement and maintain Mater Sleep Service NATA Accreditation. Provide solutions to department-level IT requirements through the development and maintenance of in-house scientific analysis and sleep laboratory management software. Responsible for research and development projects within the unit with links to outside organisations and tertiary institutions, with outcomes that impact state wide clinical processes and standards of clinical practice. Provide professional leadership and guidance to HP2 and HP3 members of the sleep unit Scientific analysis of full polysomnography studies including: Diagnostic, CPAP Titration, NIV Titrations, ASV titrations and vigilance tests Perform daytime vigilance tests (Multiple Sleep Latency Tests and Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests) for adult and paediatric MSLT/MWT High level understanding of sleep medicine, including trans-cutaneous CO2 monitoring and supplemental Oxygen during polysomnography Deliver specialised sleep disorders clinical and consultancy services with minimal direct clinical supervision, including working collaboratively with the Queensland Health Sleep Disorders Program Inpatient clinics including performing Overnight Oximetry
About you
Essential qualifications The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in science or applied science with a high component of physiology or other relevant biological subjects. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association (ASTA). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Basic Life Support: adult and paediatric life support must be maintained A current Blue Card 5 years clinical experience working as a Sleep Scientist
