Responsible for the processing of payroll for our whole organisation, this is an exciting opportunity for a passionate Payroll and Benefits Specialist to provide the organisation and People and Culture team with sound payroll and benefits advice and support. As our Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will have a strong focus on quality data and integrity, high attention to detail and collaborative in your approach. About the Role
Located at our Newcastle Office, our new Payroll and Benefits Specialist will enjoy collaborating, educating others on payroll and benefits, be motivated and adaptive and have a flair for providing quality customer service. Working as part of the People and Culture (PaC) team, our valued new team member will enjoy processing a highvolume of payroll and is committed to providing sound quality advice with regard to employee benefits.
Providing valuable advice and support to employees in processing payroll and superannuation, this role will also see you providing advice regarding remuneration and benefits, responsible for STP reporting, and ensuring compliance against legislative requirements with government regulations and the Atwea College Enterprise Agreement as well as Modern Awards.
Responsibilities:Manage the payroll process end to end independently with minimal supervision.Processing new starters and leavers as well as timesheets, staff leave and mileage claims.Creating payroll and super payments.Processing salary sacrifice and payment deductions and liaise with provider.Assisting with regular reporting and audits.Maintaining integrity of all payroll and super information on relevant databases.Managing payroll inbox and answering staff queries.Ensuring all payroll transactions are processed efficiently and accurately.Collecting, calculating, and entering data in order to maintain and update payroll information.Compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, and non-taxable wages and reporting on this.Resolving payroll discrepancies.Maintaining and improving payroll operations by developing and/or following policies and procedures.Developing ad hoc financial and operational reporting as required.Implementing new software/systems as required.Maximising Systems Deliverables/Output.Hands on experience with quantitative and qualitative research.Conduct periodic audits, prepare and present reports.Conduct salary and labour market research to define benchmarks.Ensure compliance and accuracy of data. Audit, investigate and communicate regularly ideas, issues, trends.Hands on experience with HR software (HRIS) or Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.Supplier Contract Actualisation eg HRIS/HCM.Improve Communication of Payroll, Compensation and Benefits for Employees.Salary Benchmarking.
About YouSignificant experience in processing payroll for an organisation with over 150 employees.Experience in interpreting Enterprise Agreements and Award definitions as related to payroll.Demonstrated experience working autonomously with minimal supervision.High level of accuracy and attention to the detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks, initiative to problem solve and prioritise.Ability to read and comprehend complex texts.Very high commitment to privacy and confidentiality.Exceptional time management skills.Strong IT skills with Word, Excel, Outlook experience at minimum.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Collaborative and team oriented with a passion for advising and educating others.Calm, measured and helpful in your disposition.Positive approach to your work with a high level of customer service.Flexible attitude to work with a demonstrated capacity to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.Certificate IV in Payroll Administration and/or equivalent experience.Previous experience processing data in online payroll system/s.Experience working in a non-for-profit organisation desirable.
