Randstad is currently partnered with a local Geelong Client seeking a Project Manager for 12 months contract - $880/day + super
Your new role
- Manage projects from planning phase to execution to ensure quality, on time delivery, within budget. This requires effective project management skills including planning, contract management and administration, site supervision and cost control
- Provide support in project and contract administration including the preparation of tenders, project briefs, technical specifications, reports, RFIs, records and documents.
- Plan and facilitate meetings with project and contract stakeholders and ensure all issues/considerations are tabled, addressed, managed, and adequately recorded.
- Coordinates the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project teams and other parts of the organisation.
- Proactive identification and resolution of project, contract issues and management of variations.
- Conduct project risk assessments and ensure exposure is minimised.
- Maintain project and work files, ensuring all documentation is logged, actioned and filed for future reference. Prepare file notes and other internal documentation to ensure all projects are adequately documented.
- Creates and maintains project status reports, risk registers, schedules, budgets and plans, as required.
- Assist in resolving project issues (such as contractual, legal, government policy, financial, and industrial issues) by working with external parties, such as government departments and contractors.
- Proven project management track record driving projects to completion, on schedule and to stakeholder satisfaction.
- Ability to communicate technical/complex information to non-technical people both verbally and in writing.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills to effectively interact with customers.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Visio, MS Project & MS Teams)
- Understanding of project management methodologies, tools and techniques.
- Microsoft Project or other project management software proficiency.
- Understanding of the Governments Purchasing Boards Framework and Policies
- Ability to write and manage procurement activities including RFP's, scoring vendors and facilitating selection.
- Comply with statutory environment requirements including Safety and Environment Management Plan (SEMP) obligations

- Highly developed project management skills
- Can interact effectively at all levels internally and externally.
- Strong analytical abilities combined with the capacity to view the big picture and an interest in working with detail.
- Can build relationships and consult effectively with internal and external stakeholders, particularly in an unfamiliar environment.
- Can work within tight timeframes.
- Can lead and participate in planning and project teams.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Can identify strategic risks and effectively manage these with the support of functional areas.
- Willing to travel to Melbourne and Geelong.
- Tertiary qualifications
- Solid understanding of the constraints and capabilities of computer systems
