ABOUT THIS ROLE

We are looking for the right Sous Chef / 2IC Chief Cook to bring all of our Milky Lane crazy ideas for Food to life. The quality of each Food item produced plays a huge role in the PR, Sales and Revenue for the month. This role comes with a huge responsibility in multiple areas, including: Kitchen Management, Ordering/Stock Control, Kitchen Cleanliness, Strong Execution of Food and Presentation. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure the safety of all kitchen employees at all timesControl and direct the food preparation process and any other related activitiesFollow menu designed by the Group Executive Chef and implementApprove and polish dishes before they reach the customerAssisting in ordering and maintaining correct stock levelsMaintain correct food and wage cost percentagesAssist with recruiting, leading and training the kitchen teamPrepare rosters for kitchen teamEnsure all equipment is working at optimum level 100% of timeArrange for equipment repairs with approval from GVMReport on kitchen essential and preventative maintenance requirementsEnsure kitchen cleanliness standards are met and exceededFoster a climate of cooperation and respect between coworkers and between back and front of house

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Trade qualifications in Cookery, or at least 2 years experience assisting in running a commercial kitchenFSS certificateComputer literate. Competent in Excel / WordDemonstrated skill set in portion and cost controlsFlexibility in work hoursAbility and willingness to work rostered weekends and public holidaysOutstanding communication skillsThe ability to implement and streamline processesAn experienced Leader in a high pressure environmentA strong sense of the Milky culture of energy, service and customer experienceThe ability to influence others, identify and overcome objectionsAble to grasp concepts quickly and communicate effectively across team membersProactive problem solving skills, solutions oriented.Must be able to speak passionately and knowledgeably about the brand and business.
