What you'll be doing
The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is responsible for the coordination of patient services, unit management and nursing staff management within the Opioid Agonist Treatment Service consistent with the strategic directions of Mid North Coast Local Health District.
The NUM takes overall responsibility for the health care environment and standard of patient care. As the registered nurse in charge of the unit, the NUM performs as a clinical leader and manager with accountability for quality and safety, patient flow, change management and the experience of patients on Opioid Agonist Treatment.
The NUM is pivotal to the coordination of patient care, unit management and leadership of the professions of nursing and midwifery to ensure delivery of high-quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
The NUM reports to the Network Manager, Hastings Macleay Alcohol & Other Drugs & MERIT Services and works closely with other Opioid Agonist Treatment Clinic NUMs across the District.
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA).
New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. Please provide proof of booster vaccination if available.
Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

Current Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Extensive recent post registration clinical experience and knowledge of current nursing practice in drug and alcohol nursing care. Proven leadership and management skills and demonstrated ability to direct, lead, manage and support a clinical team. Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the ward/unit are managed to deliver safe and efficient health care within available resources Demonstrated ability to function within and lead a nursing team within a multidisciplinary team environment Proven written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills relevant to the role responsibilities Demonstrated computer literacy and ability to use a variety of computer applications. Current NSW Drivers License and willingness to travel.
