About the Team
Being part of an international Data Insights team, with 8 local colleagues in Melbourne, as the Associate Data Operations Engineer youll be guided and supported by a passionate and collaborative team who partner with the entire Coles operations team/s to manage and share data insights.
Responsibilities of the role & What you will learn:
- Operate on cloud solutions leveraging the process automation for standardisation.
- Contribute to building and coding data pipelines for specific data requests in production ops.
- Manage cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines and multiple tenants in Enterprise Cloud Data Platform.
- Partner with cloud vendors and service providers on reporting challenges with production code behaviour and infrastructure failures.
- Work with development teams, and upstream/downstream systems teams to ensure there are no impacts to online or key SLAs.
- Work with Engineering teams to resolve incidents.
- Modify existing ETL pipelines to accommodate changes in the data structure.
- Work with team members for conducting root cause analysis and problem rectification, including changes required to prevent incident recurrence.
- Liaise with business stakeholders to resolve incidents.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Exposure to, and knowledge of Cloud Data Operations and framework models.
- Good understanding of data warehousing concepts including; ETL mechanisms, Slowly Changing Dimensions, archival, data reconciliation, error handling, in addition to business intelligence tools and Snowflake.
- Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.
- Working experience with Jira & Confluence.
- Strong stakeholder management and incident management practice knowledge.
- Basic working knowledge of Python/R.
- Knowledge on Databricks Cluster management, Policies, Delta Tables, Performance Tuning techniques would be highly regarded.
- Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD processes, Airflow Orchestration and best practices would also be highly desired.
- Certification in cloud technologies will be an added advantage.
- Exposure to Microsoft Azure or cloud technologies.
