An exciting opportunity to apply for Registered Nurse positions has arisen at the Brown Nurses, a community-based nursing organisation located in inner city Glebe. The Brown Nurses provide high quality care to vulnerable people experiencing isolation, who are at risk of homelessness and have been marginalised from accessing health and welfare services whilst experiencing chronic-complex health conditions. Our unique service aims to support our clients to actively engage in healthcare and access the health services of their choice. We partner with local services to provide assessment, treatment, education, support and referral utilising a trauma informed and harm minimisation approach.
Our Registered Nurses are members of a small but dedicated team which provides quality care to our clients living in the City of Sydney Local Government Area. In collaboration with our clients and the wider multidisciplinary health care team, our nurses assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care, to achieve client goals and optimal outcomes. This includes appropriate referral to, and consultation with, other relevant health professionals, service providers, community and support services.

Essential Criteria-Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of the Brown Nurses and Our Ladys Nurses for the Poor.Currently registered as a Registered Nurse (Division 1) with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation AgencyDemonstrated understanding of the issues relating to homelessness and the ability to competently provide nursing care, assessment and care coordinationDemonstrated ability to work collaboratively in teams and with external interdisciplinary colleagues and stakeholders. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional developmentDemonstrated computer literacy with email and an electronic patient record systemDemonstrated evidence of integration of theoretical knowledge and clinical skills, critical thinking and analysis in their daily practice as a registered nurseCurrent NSW Driver's License
Desirable Criteria-Community Nursing experienceMental health, addiction medicine or homeless health experience
