Your new role
Reporting directly to the Assistant Director, the successful candidate will support the Assistant Director to work closely with the Branchs Finance Business Partner team and thePortfolio Project Office to provide the team with high quality, timely and meaningful financial information and program and project reporting to support the Branch in delivering their business outcomes.
This role is an opportunity to gain experience in a program and project management environment with exposure to a range of funding sources, contract management activity, budget and administrative tasks and program reporting requirements.
Your responsibilities will include but not limited to
- Providing support and assistance to the Branchs Cost Center Managers regarding management of their internal budgets
- Supporting the management of monthly financial activities for the Branch, including projects and programs within the Branch
- Tracking financial expenditure
- Updating forecasts on a monthly basis to inform management of funding issues by highlighting pressures or savings
- Supporting the month-end accruals and journals process and provide general advice on a broad range of financial and accounting matters
- Financial invoice payments:
- Review and quality assure invoices for accuracy and financial compliance and gain appropriate delegate approvals
- Process payments via Education systems/processes
- Audit and quality assurance of tax invoices for accuracy and financial compliance
- Assisting with developing and producing monthly financial reports for the Branch, including projects and programs within the Branch
- Assisting with providing analysis and advice on the current and planned financial performance and position of the Branchs monthly financial reports
- Assisting with providing monthly input into project management reporting to Senior Responsible Officers and PMs
- Establish and maintain procedures and guidelines
- Undertake ad-hoc auditing or reviews on our financial activities as requested
Qualities and capabilities
The successful candidate is required to have the following skills:
- Experience in APS financial administration or accounting or finance area
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications, in particular Excel
- Knowledge of SAP and TM1 or similar financial reporting tools
- A working knowledge and understanding of the Commonwealth financial framework
- Strong attention to detail, data analysis skills and budget knowledge
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills capability to develop and maintain productive and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, to support the delivery of the programs
- Effective time management and organisational skills to manage to manage and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
