Our client is a highly profitable, diverse and community connected family business with 50 Years of Property Development, Management and Investment. They have a proven track record of developing high quality precincts around Metropolitan Melbourne. After recent changes made within the business, there is an opportunity for a full time Development Manager to take charge of a large scale mixed use development in the South-East consisting of residential, commercial, retail, and industrial.
The Role
The primary focus of this role is to manage a large scale project in Melbourne South-Eastern corridor. The site is a total of 171 hectares and will consist of retail, commercial and industrial precincts alongside over 1000 residential dwellings (traditional house and land, apartments and townhouses).
This position will require you to play a leading role in the development and delivery of all of the above mainly focusing on the town centre.
The key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Management of concept design and design management of assigned precincts alongside the Executive team.
- Maintenance of project feasibility as projects progress through both the development and construction phases.
- Selection, engagement and coordination of all Architects, Engineers, Town Planners and other consultants.
- Oversight of all project design and construction processes ensuring delivery on time, budget and to the highest quality, in line with market demand.
- Establishment and management of project budget, program and documentation
- Negotiation of leasing contracts including AFL's and Lease Agreements, and tenant coordination.
- Liaison with and reporting to all relevant project stakeholders on project finances and overall progress including Childcare operators, potential commercial/industrial tenants
About you
- Proven experience within Development Management/Project Delivery
- Tertiary qualifications in either Property or a relevant related business discipline
- In depth understanding of the development and leasing process on similar mixed use projects, commercial office, large-format retail, or industrial development
- Experience in design and construction management, development of feasibility modelling and negotiations with various partners
- Good understanding of drawings, with an eye for detail and defecting capabilities
- Proven collaboration skills with builders to negotiate positive outcomes
- Understanding of project costs & ability to assess variations, including knowledge of cost delegations.
- Be ready and willing to take a focused approach to every situation and accept nothing less than the best
- Previous Settlement experience, including experience with statement of compliance and occupancy permits.
- Have strong commercial acumen and commercial sensitivity
- Hard working and highly capable working within a small team to oversee multiple projects across various business units, from acquisition through to completion and beyond
- Be able to work collaboratively with various teams including Design, Construction, and Sales to ensure a seamless transition of oversight during different stages of each project life cycles
