ations and delivery of rolling stock projects and works. The Principal Engineer, Tram and Train Projects is required to employ a diverse set of skills and subject matter expertise to ensure the successful project delivery that contributes to maximising value for money for the State, while ensuring that technical and safety risks are managed So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP) within the complex operation of Trams and Trains on the Melbourne Metropolitan and Regional Railway Networks. The Principal Engineer is also responsible for managing complex issues relating to rolling stock systems design, interfacing requirements, and standards compliance in addition to custodianship of engineering subject matter expertise and management of interfaces with both internal and external stakeholders.
Key Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated high level of technical expertise in the discipline of rolling stock engineering and demonstrated experience with technical standards and constraints of the existing Victorian rolling stock types and networks.
- Relevant experience in application of systems thinking and system engineering in a rolling stock engineering environment and the ability to identify potential technical issues, propose risk mitigation actions and to research, document and report on technical matters pertaining to proposed rolling stock options.
- Experience in a rolling stock or transport project management environment, including planning, scheduling monitoring and reporting, issues management. Ability to work flexibly in a complex and demanding environment that has competing priorities and the need to meet urgent deadlines, which may be outside of standard office hours and location.
- Possess a high standard of interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholder to achieve work objectives, with the ability to provide expert advice and build and maintain strong and effective stakeholder relationships.

- Experience in managing projects or undertaking key engineering project management tasks and experience in working with engineering standards and requirements.
- Drivers License
- Great communication and interpersonal skills
