Job summary
In the role of Senior Environmental Officer, you will provide high level guidance and environmental expertise to enable the Cooroy to Curra (Section D) road infrastructure project to meet the department's and the government's environmental management commitments.Accountabilities include:
Provide specialist advice on environmental management and compliance issues and liaise with cultural heritage officers on cultural heritage matters related to the Cooroy to Curra (Section D) project.
Liaise with other Environmental Officers to ensure environmental management consistency.
Promote, foster, and maintain effective relationships with other agencies and organisations concerned with the management of environmental issues.
Ensure the environmental impacts of developments meet legislative and departmental requirements.
Manage and lead the preparation of reports, including Environmental Management Plans and Reviews of Environmental Factors through internal and external resources.
Implement Departmental policies and procedures utilising the Environmental Management System.
Mentor and coach project staff on environmental issues.
Participate in audits of environmental compliance on the Cooroy to Curra (Section D) project as required
Report on the environmental compliance of contractors related to the Cooroy to Curra (Section D) project
Assist in developing responses to Ministerial and public enquiries in relation to transport-related environmental issues and to other Government Departments on their environmental initiatives.
Prepare and assist in management and supervision of contracts in relation to environment management and compliance.
This position reports to the Project Manager of Cooroy to Curra (Section D).
Mandatory requirements:
Degree from a tertiary institution in environmental management, resource management, environmental engineering or equivalent qualifications is mandatory
A current C' class drivers' licence
Desirable requirements:
Experience in major infrastructure projects will be highly regarded.
The Location - Gympie.
Gympie is located approximately 2 hours north of Brisbane if travelling by road and only 50 minutes from Maroochydore. The town was founded on the discovery of gold and has a rich pioneering heritage. The area boasts the beauty of the Cooloola Coast to the east including Rainbow Beach. To the south you'll find the lush rural communities of Mary Valley, home to a variety of fresh local produce.
