About The Team
The School of Humanities and Communication Arts offers programs in arts, communication and creative industries, design (visual communication), interpreting and translation, languages, music, TESOL, and creative music therapy. Innovative subjects focus on contemporary debates, perspectives, methods and technologies. Wherever possible, programs include practical training, often through involvement in community and industry-based projects. The School of Humanities and Communication Arts manages a broad technical infrastructure including a television studio, music recording studios, specialist IT laboratories, sound and video post-production studios, a professional design studio, a television and radio journalism studio, and portable equipment stores.
The School of Humanities and Communication Arts is located on three campuses: Bankstown, Parramatta, and Penrith.
About the Role
We are seeking two forward thinking, dynamic, and innovative scholar's to take on a role at the level of Lecturer, Culture and Society to contribute to our undergraduate and postgraduate programs. This position will teach into, complement, and extend existing offerings in one or more of the following areas: culture and economy, digital cultures, Indigenous cultural studies, race critical studies, youth studies. Additionally, as a member of the Culture and Society teaching group, this position involves teaching into the foundation subjects within this major and/or the Bachelor of Arts core subjects. This position is responsible for conducting research and supervising postgraduate (Masters, PhD and DCA) students.
This position will work closely with school research and teaching staff across the School and is encouraged to develop collaborations both within and beyond the Culture and Society discipline group. The successful candidate will be expected to form strong relationships with external stakeholders, especially in the literary and arts industries.
We are offering one full-time, ongoing position and one part-time (17.5hrs), ongoing position both based at Parramatta South campus. Western is a multi-campus University, and thus travel to other campuses may be required to support School activities.
Remuneration Package:
Academic Level B $131,136 to $154,738 p.a. (comprising Salary of $110,811 to $130,846 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
Academic Level B (Pro-Rata) $65,568 to $77,369 p.a. (comprising Salary of $55,405 to $65,423 p.a., plus Superannuation and Leave Loading)
