The Area
The ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics (RSAA) operates Australias largest optical observatory and has access to the worlds largest optical telescopes.
Our staff and students have made major contributions to astronomy, mapping the structure and formation of the Milky Way, discovering planets orbiting other stars, measuring dark matter both within our Galaxy and in the wider Universe, and discovering the accelerating expansion of the Universe.
Our astronomers include winners of the Prime Ministers Prize for Science and the Nobel Prize.
RSAA is based in Mount Stromlo Observatory which hosts the Advanced Instrumentation and Technology Centre which is a national facility established to support the development of the next generation of instruments for astronomy and space science.
The Position
We invite applications for a postdoctoral position working with Professor Mark Krumholz and Associate Professor Roland Crocker's research group, in the area of theory and simulation related to cosmic rays, their interaction with the interstellar medium, and the non-thermal radiation they produce.
The Person
Applicants must have a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, or a closely-related field, or equivalent qualifications, with a track record of independent research in the field of astrophysics as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals and conferences. Experience with large-scale numerical simulations is helpful but not required.
