Randstad is currently partnered with a local government client based 20 mins away from Geelong and Ballarat, seeking to hire a management accountant who plays a crucial role in an organization by providing financial information and analysis to support effective decision-making. They work closely with the management team to ensure the financial health and success of the organization. The job description for a management accountant typically includes the following responsibilities:
- Stakeholder Communication: Communicate financial information, analysis, and insights effectively to stakeholders, including senior management, department heads, and unit managers - Internal. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial objectives with operational goals.
- Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and present timely and accurate financial reports, statements, and forecasts to assist management in making informed decisions. Analyze financial data, identify trends, and provide insights on the organization's financial performance.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop, implement, and monitor budgets and forecasts in collaboration with various departments. Coordinate the budgeting process, review financial assumptions, and provide guidance to ensure financial targets are met.
- Cost Analysis and Control: Monitor and analyse costs, expenses, and variances against budgets and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures. Identify cost drivers, assess cost structures, and support the management team in optimising resource allocation.
- Financial Planning and Strategy: Collaborate with management to develop long-term financial plans and strategies. Provide financial insights and recommendations for improving profitability, efficiency, and overall financial performance.
- Financial Decision Support: Provide financial analysis and support for strategic initiatives, investment decisions, and business cases. Conduct feasibility studies, financial modeling, and scenario analysis to assess the financial impact of various options.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to financial management. Continuously improve processes, reporting methodologies, and financial controls to enhance the overall financial management function.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. A professional certification such as CPA/CA qualifications.
- Australian Accounting Standards, techniques, concepts, and practices, including demonstrated experience in accounting for assets.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to perform high level analysis of financial data.
- Proven experience as a management accountant or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication, presentation skills and Strong stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of organisational dynamics.
- Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.
- Fully vaccinated.
