job detailsOur client is based in Coopers Plains and is a department under the Queensland Government who have a current vacancy for Laboratory Technician (Genetics)
In this role you will be involved in supporting the genetics laboratory and research functions by preparing, processing and conducting basic analysis of the insect samples for genetic analysis, and supporting other team members with general laboratory-based tasks.
Key Duties:

- Identify ants from samples or images
- Prepare ant samples for microscopic inspection
- Enter data into information systems and conduct basic analysis of results
- Maintain ant colonies and prepare live ant displays for community events
- Prepare materials for the training of odour detection dogs
- Set up and monitor laboratory-based experiments
- General laboratory-based cleaning and maintenance of equipment and supplies
The successful Candidate will require:
- Associate Diploma in Biological Science from a recognised tertiaryinstitution, or equivalent qualifications.
- Possession of a C-Class Drivers Licence
