Job Description

The Software Engineering Manager leads multiple scrum teams in the development, delivery and support of a range of technology solutions aligned with business objectives. More specifically:

Leadership

- Provide thought leadership for the development processes, tools and standards used by the team to develop their products/solutions
- Work with Development team leader to define and implement coding standards
- Working with Software Quality Assurance team leader to define and implement test frameworks and guidelines
- Working with the Development team lead and the Quality Assurance team lead, develop and maintain development and test guidelines, including code reviews, branching strategies, release processes etc

Technical & Delivery

- Provide advice and supporting artefacts on enterprise IT architecture to support key business transformation and IT systems update programs and projects
- Work with the Head of Information Services to provide strategic product/development planning, including introducing new solutions that will automate services
- Ensure necessary technical resources for the delivery of projects - and where internal skill does not exist partner with and manage delivery to the project from external providers
- Work with the team to ensure that selected technologies are utilised in line with vendor or industry best practises

People Management

- Mentor, coach and manage the performance of direct reports
- Ensure teams are working well together and enables positive culture and climate across the business unit
- Enable a culture of continuous improvement

The Successful Applicant

**You must be based in Melbourne and willing to commute to Footscray. You must have full working rights, this role does not offer any sponsorship.**

Your passion for technology allows you to lead the team to develop creative solutions that align with industry best practises for development processes, UX and automation. Your strong people skills ensure that you can mentor your team to success and engage with your colleagues throughout State Trustees to assist with product/solution ideation, development and support requirements.

Your experience with complex product development gives you the ability to maintain a holistic view of State Trustees' information and information technology assets, ensuring that the product/solution develop aligns with the IT strategic objectives.

Technical

- Significant hands-on development experience, including the management of CI/CD pipelines
- Experience developing cloud first solutions
- Working knowledge of Agile Scrum Software Development Lifecycles
- Experience in managing and leading one or more scrum teams
- Significant experience in managing technologies, associated risks and working in partnership with external partners and vendors
- Experience developing Salesforce and/or Mulesoft solutions (Beneficial)
- Experience with Azure Cognitive Services, or similar AI/ML platform (Beneficial)
