job detailsUnder the framework of the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements, Community Recovery is dedicated to establishing a comprehensive support model aimed at actively connecting community members affected by disasters to available recovery supports and services. Notably, these services encompass providing assistance to approved Structural Assistance Grant (SAG) and Resilient Homes Fund (RHF) applicants who are unable to manage property repairs. Additionally, the role involves facilitating access to other forms of financial assistance and psychosocial support to aid applicants in their adaptation and recovery processes.
This project adopts a dual-pronged approach, employing teams stationed in Neighbourhood and Community Centres (NCC) and supported by Community Recovery-based Service Navigators in areas where NCCs are not available.
The position being offered presents a unique opportunity to join the esteemed Community Recovery Service Navigators team, where your role will be screen all referrals to internal place-based Service Navigators
The ideal candidate should have experience providing services to distressed clients and working with the community sector. They should possess contemporary knowledge of human services service delivery policies and practice. Proficiency in Microsoft products, particularly Excel, Outlook, and database software, is required. The candidate should also have record-keeping experience to maintain accurate records of client activities and interventions, as well as prepare necessary reports and correspondence. These skills and experiences are crucial for effectively supporting the client group and fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.

- Providing direct support to people including registration/triage, information provision, service navigation and referral, personal support
- Identifying, recording and tracking escalations and complaints in line with departmental guidelines in a timely and respectful manner
- Participating in establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders within and across government and broader human services networks.
- Preparing a range of written materials that support advice to government, including correspondence, briefing material, and information papers concerned with the initiatives delivered by the work area.
- Contributing to a professional environment through personal commitment to, ethical behaviour, staff wellbeing, skills development, professional growth and continuous improvement.
- Responding to incoming enquiries and complaints from disaster affected individuals, including those that come as a Ministerial inquiry
- Development of systems, policies, and procedures to support the implementation
The ideal candidate for this role will be professional, confident and have demonstrated experience in the following areas
- Experience in the provision of services to clients and in working with the community sector, including clients who may be distressed.
- Contemporary knowledge of human services service delivery policy and practice.
- Knowledge of and experience with Microsoft products, in particular Excel, Outlook and database software.
- Record-keeping experience to maintain adequate records of activities and interventions with the client group and prepare reports and correspondence as required
