Job Description
Assist the Senior Manager and the Business Group to build strong business cases that create enduring profitability for Australian grain growers. Ensure effective, efficient, and compliant contract management that aligns with GRDC's vision, values, and strategic goals by effectively managing, people, budget, and technological resources. Managers are responsible for delivering GRDC's R&D strategies and primary activities at each Phase of Contract Investment as follows; -
- Engage across government, primary industry supply chains, researchers and growers on issues of sustainability to ensure a co-ordinated approach to RD&E
- Ensure that strategic plans accurately capture the primary issues in each of the RD&E fields and provide detail required to build appropriate technical strategies.
- Work in a small team to identify strategic R&D requirements in greenhouse gas mitigation and management, soil health and ecosystem services.
- Develop business cases that address regional, national and local grower issues.
- Actively manage investments including financial performance, milestone management, negotiation, risk management, contract agreements and other duties as required.
- Responsible for identifying communication opportunities and collaborating with the Grower Communications Group to promote GRDC Research outcomes.
- Anticipate, invest, create and foster the development of workforce capacity and industry leadership in your particular RD&E field.
- Foster and maintain awareness of GRDC funded Scholarship/grant recipients for future project roles.
The Successful Applicant
- Demonstrated minimum 5 years sound knowledge of related industry experience in a particular R&D field.
- Demonstrated successful delivery of sustainability related R&D project outcomes
- Demonstrated experience in project negotiation, facilitation and management in a relevant industry (5+ years' desirable);
- Demonstrated experience in RD&E relating to greenhouse gas mitigation and accounting, soil health and ecosystem services is very highly regarded.
- Proven experience in negotiating and facilitating outcomes that deliver benefits to growers.
- Proven experience coaching, mentoring and developing teams.
- Proven understanding of commercial principles including finance, brand management, IP management, licensing and deal development.
- Highly developed presentation, interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to influence, motivate and develop others.
- Strong analytical skills and the capacity to leverage off external expertise and think strategically, including the ability to provide sound project and issue advice.
Mandatory Requirements
- Degree in Business, Agricultural Science, or equivalent.
- A PhD in a relevant discipline is highly desirable.
- Prepared to travel as and when required.
- Must have a valid Australian Drivers Licence.

- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
