This role will have heavy involvement across an iconic Perth landmark - Optus Stadium.Optus Stadium hosts a range of events all year round, including AFL, BBL, music concerts, balls, weddings, and functions, providing an unparalleled experience. In July 2022, Optus Stadium was awarded Venue of the Year at the Stadium Business Awards in Manchester.
Job Description
This role has four main pillars of responsibility:
Government Relations:
- Maintain strong stakeholder relationships within Government and Government Subsidiaries
- Have a high awareness of sensitive issues and a mature approach to relationships
- Keep up to date with policy changes and announcements
- Monthly and annual reporting
Media:
- Maintain a strong network within media (journalists, broadcasters, and partners, etc.)
- Proactive media - social listening, creating positive stories, having a high level of awareness
- Reactive media - being able to respond to ensure the VenuesLive side of any story is heard
- Reputation management
Commercial Communications:
- Proactive communications
- Raising awareness of upcoming events to assist in sales
- Media launches
- Very hands-on and on the tools - creating ideas and assisting with the execution
- Write the communications plans for VenuesLive (B2B2G) and roll this out
- Leading creation and delivery of PR activities
- Work closely with the VL Marketing team
- Develop close relationships with Heads of Communications at Hirers, particularly, WC Eagles, Fremantle Dockets, Perth Scorchers, and Cricket Australia
Corporate Communications:
- Create the corporate story
- Write and execute the communications plan for Optus Stadium (B2C)
- Copy-writing and proofing
- Involvement in PR activities

- Broad understanding or interest in the sporting or entertainment environment
- Ministerial communications experience
