We offer an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal Allied Health Assistant to join our world-leading institution at James Cook University (JCU). A full-time, fixed-term appointment to 30 June 2025, this position is based in EmeraldWHAT YOU CAN ACCOMPLISH IN THE ROLEReporting to the Senior Clinical Lead, and working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will support the inter-professional service-learning program by providing cultural awareness education and mentorship to medical students on placement in the Central Highland region of Queensland
WHAT IS SERVICE LEARNING
Service learning is an innovative approach to remote service provision and workforce development. It delivers student-assisted, periodic, interprofessional services for adults and children in areas of high or unmet need as identified by service providers and community.WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE
Ideally you will have a cert III in a health-related area and can demonstrate sound knowledge and skills in Aboriginal health, cultural education and mentorship. With a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across a culturally diverse and geographically dispersed team, you will contribute to the Centres primary goal to improve the health of rural and remote populations.
ABOUT THE CENTRAL QUEENSLAND CENTRE FOR RURAL AND REMOTE HEALTH
The newly formed JCU Central Queensland Centre for Rural and Remote Health is a federally funded University Department of Rural Health, one of a national network of sixteen funded by the Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training program as a health workforce strategy. The CQCRRH has a broad range of responsibilities within the remote and rural health sector including developing a health workforce for the future.
