Job Description
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop, including production scheduling, resource allocation, and workflow management.
- Lead and manage a team of machinists, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback.
- Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and procurement, to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to specifications.
- Develop and implement efficient machining processes to optimise productivity and minimise downtime.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations within the workshop.
- Monitor and enforce quality control measures to ensure the production of high-quality pump components and assemblies.
- Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures, including inspections, testing, and documentation.
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of workshop machinery, tools, and equipment.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure optimal functioning of machining equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
- Manage inventory levels of raw materials, consumables, and spare parts required for machining operations.
The Successful Applicant
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor of Engineering (mechanical) or equivalent; technical or vocational certification in machining or a related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in CNC programming and workshop set-up
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a workshop environment.
Desired Experience & Competencies
- Proven experience as a machinist, with expertise in operating and programming CNC machines.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, and materials used in pump manufacturing.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Solid understanding of quality control principles and experience implementing quality assurance procedure
