Our client is seeking an experienced HSE Specialist from the South West region of WA, or a HSE Specialist open to relocating down south, to join the Major Projects team based at the Worsley Alumina Refinery near Collie.

As part of the site based Major Projects team, this role provides specialist HSE advice to:

- Support compliance with the companies Global Safety, Health and Environmental Standards and Major Projects H&S Standard,
- Ensure that the Project HSEC Management Plan is effectively implemented across all Refinery Projects. In particular,
- undertake verification activities to ensure that Critical Controls are in place and working effectively to reduce Project
- Fatal and Material Risks, and
- Support the safety, health and wellbeing of all Project team members (including contractors).

Responsibiities include but are not limited to:

- Ensure that Project work conforms to the company and Worsley HSE policies, standards and procedures and regulatory compliance standards
- Ensure ongoing suitability of scope-specific Project HSEC Management Plans.
- Participate in and facilitate risk assessment workshops (e.g. CRAW/ WRAC), as applicable
- Develop sound working relationships based on mutual trust with the Refinery operations and HSE teams, to ensure work is executed safely in alignment with the requirements of the Refinerys Mine Safety Management System (MSMS)
- Conduct behaviour-based safety observations to identify safe and at-risk behaviours and follow-up as appropriate.
- Follow-up on all HSEC actions raised from Hazard Reports, Incident Investigations, etc and verify effective close-out.
- Undertake 1st line assurance activities to verify that HSEC controls are in place and effectively implemented.
- Facilitate incident investigations to a high standard, to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:

- Diploma or Degree-qualification in Work Health & Safety / similar and related industry experience
- 5+ years construction experience in operational (Brownfields) environments, Capital projects, Contractor management, Major Hazard Facility (MHF), Isolation experience (Gas or Electrical - Desirable)
- Investigation Facilitator qualifications (Essential) - ICAM and Timeline 5 Whys preferred
- Training & Assessment qualification (Desirable)
- Leadership, coaching and influencing good industry practices in HSEC with the confident ability to influence and gain the trust of the Project and Operations leadership and HSE teams
- Has advanced knowledge of key Fatal and Material Risk management concepts, theories and practices
- Proactively supports Projects across multiple job fronts in a complex operating environment
- Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing business needs and circumstances
- Sound communication, interpersonal, time management, negotiation, report writing and facilitation skills
