About Our ClientFBT Transwest is a privately owned company which has been in operation for over 50 years. They operate a Major Hazard Facility in Victoria, as well as a number of dangerous goods facilities across Australia. The business is supported by their diverse logistics service safely storing, handling and transporting dangerous goods nationally.
We have partnered with them in their search for a General Manager, Occupational Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (OHSQE) that will join their senior leadership team.
Job Description
This newly created role will report directly to the Managing Director and the appointed person will have the opportunity to develop and lead the strategic direction for occupational health, safety, quality and environment.
- Develop, implement and monitor the OHSQE Strategy
- Act as the discipline owner for the organisation's safety management system
- Lead and foster an environment where process safety management is embedded in operations
- Develop, implement and monitor the effectiveness of the Major Hazard Facility Safety Case
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, licenses, industry accreditations, and participate in government or industry wide initiatives
- Support FBT Transwest's position as an industry leader in the transport and storage of dangerous goods
- Provide actionable insights to the senior leadership team and executives on OHSQE performance
- Lead relationships with regulators and emergency services
- Monitor and ensure conformance with ISO accreditations and customer expectations
- Mentor and effectively lead the OHSQE team ensuring prioritisation of effort is aligned with the OHSQE Strategy
The Successful Applicant
This role will suit a true people leader that holds a tertiary qualification in OHSQE or a related discipline such as science or engineering. A minimum of 10 years of industry experience is required, including at least 5 years in a similar role. Experience in working within an MHF is highly desirable, along with a proven track record of driving a process safety culture. It will be seen as favourably if the person has recognition as a Certified OHS Professional by the Australian Institute of Health & Safety (AIHS) and/or a Professional Process Safety Engineer by the Institute of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
