job detailsAre you a Traffic Engineer and aspire to work with local government having the ability and relevant experience?
We are currently recruiting a Traffic Engineer for a local SA council, for a short term contract with potential extension.
Key Responsibilities:
...
- Provide a high level of customer service to members of the public that interact with Council in relation to traffic management issues
- Undertake designs in accordance with Australian Standards, utilising knowledge and understanding of traffic and civil construction techniques and best practice.
- Undertake cost estimates using knowledge of civil construction methods, particularly relating to pedestrian crossings and other general traffic control devices.
- Assess traffic reports from developers and consultants and provide traffic management advice to Councils development team
- Establish clear and cost-effective methods for the provision, maintenance and replacement of road safety infrastructure, through the use of asset management principles and techniques
- Assess and approve applications for Heavy and Over dimensional vehicles to travel on Council roads.
- Procure and co-ordinate traffic counts across the City undertaken by an external consultant
- Report all risks identified in the course of undertaking the duties relevant to this position.
Required Skills & Knowledge:
- Well established verbal and written communication skills, including writing reports to Council and Committee meetings.
- Analysis of traffic safety and use of critical thinking and traffic management knowledge to determine appropriate traffic control treatments.
- Ability to recognise problems/issues, analyse, formulate and implement appropriate solutions.
- Sound knowledge of Australian Road Rules and Regulations and the principles of being an experienced Traffic Engineering Practitioner.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Code of Technical Requirements for the Legal Use of Traffic Control Devices (DIT), Pavement Marking Manual (DIT) and other legislation associated with road management.
- Exceptional and highly developed customer service skills.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Technical experience in the field of traffic engineering, road safety auditing, preparation of traffic impact statements and Safe Systems.
- Experience in the management of traffic engineering projects and program development, conceptualising complex traffic control devices, such as roundabouts, pedestrian crossings and bicycle facilities.
- Diploma or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or other relevant discipline OR equivalent relevant experience.
