job detailsRandstad has been given the opportunity to recruit a Production Manager position with one of our rapidly expanding manufacturing clients in the FMCG packaging industry. Located in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, is a family-owned business with over two decades of experience in crafting bespoke and innovative packaging solutions. Paying up to $110k + super depending on experience.
As a Production Manager you will merge your expertise with practical industry knowledge, primarily focused on the FMCG packaging. You will seamlessly integrate into the culture, leading by example and actively engaging in hands-on leadership. This role is about being present on the production floor, embodying the values, and setting the standard for the team.

- Ensure the safety of all warehouse personnel by maintaining machinery compliance with WHSMS standards and participate in risk management process, and ensure team members consistently adhere to the WHS policies and procedures
- Continually plan, manage, and review the production schedule to ensure optimal quality, appropriate labor, materials, and equipment availability. Focus on enhancing production efficiencies, DIFOT and OEE.
- Develop and implement systems for daily reporting on productivity, waste reduction, and cost control.
- Ensure products are produced and packed in strict accordance with specifications.
- Manage daily production staffs, overseeing attendance, work efficiency, quality, and behaviour.
- Ensure smooth operations by overseeing equipment maintenance, repair, and replacement.
- Coordinate with service providers and contractors, ensuring comprehensive records are maintained.
- Motivate and lead the production team for maximum efficiency and quality while maintaining product quality according to agreed specifications and standards.
- Develop team capabilities to support growth targets, identify training gaps and implement cross-training strategies to enhance key skills.
- Drive best practices and continuous improvement initiatives throughout the production operations.
- Foster and manage a team-oriented, productive work environment, placing a strong emphasis on Work Health and Safety (WHS).
- Oversee the induction of new staff to ensure that they meet appropriate training requirements.
- Manage and coordinate projects related to plastic packaging manufacturing, ensuring they are completed within budget and on schedule.
- Implement quality control measures to monitor and maintain product quality throughout the manufacturing process.
About you:
- Extensive experience in FMCG packaging, with a primary focus on plastics.
- Ideally, possess experience working in SMEs or family businesses, showcasing adaptability and resourcefulness.
- Exceptional communication skills, commitment, respectful and transparency are highly valued
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to WHS regulations, with the ability to implement continuous safety improvement processes.
- In-depth knowledge of production management, risk management, and quality standards. Experience with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- A track record of innovation, contributing fresh ideas in process improvement, profit enhancement, productivity gains, and a people-oriented approach.

- Knowledge of mechanical, machine servicing and operation is a plus
- Strong organisational and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective teamwork.
