job detailsRandstad have permanent opportunities available for an experienced Diesel Mechanic to support one of our defence client sites in remote locations in Alice Springs Australia. This is a rostered position 15 days on 13 days off with all flights and accommodation provided.
This is a permanent, salaried position available to start asap. FIFO from Darwin or Adelaide.
You will have all the benefits of working in a permanent salaried position on a FIFO roster!
Key responsibilities will include:

- Carry out Preventative and Reactive general maintenance duties within your own trade discipline.
- Liaise with Facilities Coordinator to efficiently carry out the tasks and services required of Randstad under the terms of the Contract;
- Full compliance and consistency with the contract and Randstad business systems
- Deliver Planned and Reactive Maintenance solutions across Mechanical
- Carry out and maintaining Gensets, diesel Pumps, diesel Motors, diesel mechanical plant
- Assemble, install, test, and maintain diesel plant equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical defects and malfunctions.
- Inspect and maintain mechanical diesel plant systems as required but not limited to diesel pumps, diesel motors, and rotating plant equipment.
- Respond to client queries regarding issues to their sites.
- Interface with other operators, engineers and the supply chain, providing technical support and documentation of works undertaken
- Demonstrate the ability to gather and interrogate information effectively, leading to a structured and logical outcome to rectify the task in hand
- Regularly evaluate objectives and plans to ensure continual improvement, and
- alignment with changing project and client priorities.
Key Requirements:
- 5 + year experience in a similar position
- Able to respond quickly to change and adopt a flexible / innovative approach to problems and opportunities
- High level written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Certificate III in Automotive Diesel Engine Technology
- Conduct routine generator electrical maintenance
- Experience as a Diesel Mechanic in the service and maintenance of generators
- Have previous experience of working autonomously in remote locations
- Working at heights
- Confined space
- High Risk work Licence LF (forklift)
- EWP (up to 11mtr)
- Drivers licence
- White Card (General Construction Induction Card)
- Current National Police Check or the willingness to undertake
To be considered for this position you must be an Australian Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a current Australian Defence Security Clearance.
