Job Description
Strategic Sourcing & Category Strategy Execution
- Delivery of best-in-market pricing advantage through various negotiation strategies.
- Prepare and run strategic sourcing events including RFQ/RFP/RFI, online auction, collaborative sourcing with the key focus on optimizing cost, quality, delivery & technology standards to our Clients Members and bringing a local perspective to a national category.
- Improve local performance via supplier consolidation, negotiating commercial supplier arrangements and developing strategic partnerships.
- Provide leadership and innovation from a sourcing perspective towards environmental management and sustainability programs. Review supplier offerings for innovative products to reduce costs.
- Execution of the short- and long-term strategic commodity plans as set by the Senior Procurement Manager.
- Drive Risk Management Strategies across supplier base.
- Seek spot buys which are discounted products to reduce costs to our members clients.
Supplier Performance Management
- With the Client Service Team, drive SRM KPI performance reviews with key suppliers and correctively action poor performing suppliers. Drive continuous improvement.
- Drive Supplier Relationship Management Program.
- Maintain relationships with strategic suppliers with the aim to be a first point of call for new innovative products and spot buys.
- Ensure up to date supplier information and contract management database is maintained including Business Code of Conduct, Vendor Quality Assurance, HACCP and insurance certificates.
- Ensure suppliers and manufacturers have appropriate third-party accreditation and insurances.
- Ensure new suppliers and manufacturers are set up in line with company and supply chain policy.
Client Service Support
- Support the Client Service Team in resolving Supplier Performance related and DIFOT incidents. Review root-cause and implement corrective actions where appropriate.
- Identify savings without compromising service or product quality or Client WITY.
- Communicate market trends, provide proactive insights and changes in product availability to our clients.
Contract Management
- Own, drive, draft and maintain supplier contracts and legal agreements in an accurate, timely and concise manner
- Oversee contract terms and tenure.
- Create ongoing business value through in-contract levers and creative, collaborative category development approaches.
- Drive operational excellence in the supplier base, managing KPI's and performance level initiatives.
- Foster positive relationships across the supply base with a focus on continuous improvement and creation of added value and innovation in the portfolio
- Continuously look to implement operational efficiencies and challenge the 'norm' across the supply relationships.
Client Engagement
- Support the Client Operations Team in building and maintaining client's relationships to facilitate the delivery of category strategy and client's expectations.
- Review and validate the market updates to our Members Clients on status of products, quality, availability, and future trends.
- Hold regular meetings with sectors and internal teams to ensure the approaches to work are planned & consistent with policy. Consistently seek to develop a trusting relationship and working rapport with sectors and team members and ensure a positive approach to work.
- Support internal teams in delivery of consistent service, policy and process and ensure a positive approach to work.
- Perform other duties within his/her capabilities as required by Senior Managers or peers including reporting writing, presentations etc.
Heath, Safety and Security Management
- Participating in safety meetings, inspections, and risks assessment.
- Adhere to any CGA policy, procedures and systems relating to health and safety.
- Take reasonable care for own and others health and safety.
- Inform the appropriate Manager of any health & safety problem or defect which may give rise to danger and reporting promptly any incident which may occur.
The Successful Applicant
Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant completed or partial tertiary qualification Economics/Business/Commerce, CIPS, IFPSM or AAPCM qualification or equivalent is highly regarded
- Drive for results.
- Microsoft Office Software: computer literate with intermediate/advanced skills in full MS Office Suite: including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to negotiate skilfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups is a must as the core focus of the role will be influencing strategy and negotiating cost.
- Demonstrate organisational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously and prioritise work to meet all deadlines
- High level of attention to detail.
- Able to handle ambiguity effectively, managing multiple stakeholders, solving operational issues, fostering change and resolving conflict
- Ability to anticipate future consequences and trends accurately, has broad knowledge and perspective, is future oriented and can articulately paint credible pictures and visions of possibilities and likelihoods
- Articulate communicator who utilises excellent written and verbal skills
Experience
- Experience in Contract Management and sourcing and / or formal Procurement environment of at least 3 years.
- Highly skilled in influencing and negotiation - Internal and External.
- Well-developed communication and presentations skills, able to influence at all levels internally and externally
- A track record in identifying and delivering sustained cost reduction opportunities
- Excellent supplier relationship management skills
- An ability to adapt and work at strategic / operational or transactional level
- Able to take initiative and resolve issues swiftly and effectively
- A keen interest in equipment and service environments
- Familiar with working in a service industry with an expectation of high customer service levels
