Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant - Portfolios, you will be an integral part of the team of financial professionals, providing high-quality financial management services. Your role will involve budgeting, planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting for allocated areas in alignment with business needs. Operating within the organisation's financial standards and policies, you will play a crucial role in helping the finance area achieve its business objectives through tailored and business-focused financial services.

Key Responsibilities:

- Undertake a range of financial management responsibilities, including budgeting, planning, modelling, forecasting, and reporting, to support the needs of the client group.
- Perform cost benefit analysis, prepare financial projections, and develop scenario modelling to drive informed decision-making.
- Provide analysis to enhance financial capability, improve operating performance, and identify opportunities for business growth, proactively responding to issues, trends, and opportunities.
- Contribute to the planning, management, and effective implementation of continuous improvement activities related to financial management practices and procedures.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse network of university staff, clients, government authorities, and stakeholders.
- Identify and contribute to planning and managing issues and risks associated with the implementation of financial management initiatives, policy changes, and legislative requirements.
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations, business protocols, and standards, applying appropriate measures at the local level.
- Perform other duties as directed, ensuring flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving organisational needs.

Key Selection Criteria:

Education/Qualifications:

- Relevant tertiary qualifications in finance or business, coupled with significant experience and skills in management accounting within a large and complex organisation.
- Current membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (CA) or Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Australia.

Knowledge and Skills:

- Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and expertise in providing high-quality finance, accounting, and budgetary services.
- Proven track record in developing, preparing, and monitoring complex budgets, forecasting, and income/expenditure management.
- Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, enabling you to present complex financial information in a clear and understandable manner to diverse stakeholders.
- Strong team player with a demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively.
- Ability to exercise judgement, initiative, and adaptability, embracing change and driving continuous improvement.
- Expertise in financial management, including the development, review, and implementation of relevant policies, procedures, professional standards, and legislative requirements.
- Advanced analytically, investigative, and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for interpreting data and identifying emerging trends and issues.
- Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and perform well under pressure.
- Proficiency in using financial accounting software, the Microsoft Office suite, web technology, and experience with computer-based records systems/databases.
