Job Description
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality network services to customers, meeting SLA requirements and customer expectations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the network, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including routing, switching, and layer 2-3 networking.
- Drive the migration from Cisco to Juniper networking equipment and provide expertise in both platforms.
- Manage major incidents and participate in root cause analysis to identify and resolve network issues.
- Maintain strong vendor relationships and manage vendor contracts and service level agreements.
- Develop and implement network policies, procedures, and best practices to optimize network performance and security.
- Lead the architecture design of the network, ensuring scalability and future growth.
- Provide technical leadership and support for Level 2 engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Collaborate with the systems and networking teams, contributing to overall infrastructure design and strategy.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs for team members.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in network operations.
The Successful Applicant
- Extensive experience in a similar role within the MSP or telecommunications industry.
- Strong technical expertise in network operations, including routing, switching, and layer 2-3 networking.
- Experience with both Cisco and Juniper networking equipment is preferred.
- Certification in CCNA and/or CCNP is required; additional certifications such as CCIE are a plus.
- Knowledge of ITIL and ISO2700 standards and practices.
- Familiarity with security technologies, such as Checkpoint, is desirable.
- Previous experience with satellite and/or mobile network providers is highly beneficial.
- Proven experience in managing major incidents and performing root cause analysis.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, handling multiple priorities.
- Willingness to occasionally travel to data centres and other office locations as needed.
